Interesting clouds and light on Monday afternoon got me out on a walk…

Not long after I got home, the lawns outside my window were powdered with white again.

Even on a gray day, the autumn leaves sometimes seem to be self-luminous.

These pictures were taken under a motorway bridge crossing the river. Really, one of the most boring sights in town! – until you start exploring it through the eye of the camera…

Autumn Light

These two pictures were taken in late afternoon light within one minute of each other, in more or less the same spot. I can’t quite figure out why the light is so different in the two photos. I know I didn’t make any adjustments to the camera, so I suppose the sun came out from behind a cloud. The place is a pond in a big cemetery which is like a nature park with varied landscape.

Something To Lighten Up A Grey Day

This is the café across the bridge in yesterday’s collage. These pictures were taken on a grey morning before the café was open. That suited me fine, because what I really wanted to catch with the camera was their outdoors crystal chandeliers.

Skywatch Friday: A Smile To Start Your Day

 

 

This, too, is a sort of sculpture, or installation, and part of the Sculpture Festival. 
It consists of clothes hanging on lines tied between two high factory chimneys.
The title of this work of art: Good Day!

 

The pictures were taken from two completely different places in town, about 1 km apart. One shot was taken against the light. The other from a place where I had the sun behind me. (The second and third photos here are both cropped from the same original.)

The first picture I also posted at Soaring Through The World earlier this week, but then edited (darkened) to enhance the silhouette (since Silhouettes was theme of the week).

The Light Within

Passing a graveyard chapel on a dark grey afternoon, I was intrigued by the glow coming from within. The doors were closed and there was nothing else to show there was anything special going on.



I did not investigate. Sometimes it's more fun just to let mysteries remain mysteries...

Wrapped in Light

Wrapping bare tree trunks and branches with lights has become more and more common in later years, as an alternative or addition to the traditional evergreen Christmas trees.

The autumn colours last week were so strong it almost hurt the eye to look at them.




Even on a grey and cloudy day, the trees seem luminous now, like if they had drawn the light of the sun into themselves.
