Sorry, a little blurry, but they're not easy to catch "before breakfast"! I mean their breakfast, not mine. I saw at least three of these on Saturday out in the countryside (and one bumblebee!), and since there are no wild flowers yet, I guess their only hope is to find some daffodils or pansies in a garden pot?

Butterflies straight from Sweden!! They are not too blurry to see and enjoy. I wish I had any at all. Maybe I'll snap one this year. I'm glad you gave the name. It does resemble a tortise. There are tortiseshell cats, as well. This one has butterfly wings, but the body looks a bit like a moth. A great post! I love the blue dots around the edge of the wings.
Butterflies already. lovely pictures.
he is beautiful and i am so happy for you that it is butterfly time and no snow in sight. did you notice how he is camoflaged so he is hard for predators to see. i watch our butterflies and each of them lands on things they blend in with.
Dawn Treader...you all have much more colorful butterflies than we do.
