When the Snow Melts...
... you get Little Lakes in places where you do not wish to have them... I don't know the name for the kind of vehicle to the right (with pumps and hoses to get rid of unwanted water) but right now they are more in demand than the snow ploughs.
In USA we call that a sump pump, it pumps the water out of basements and other buildings that get flooded. You are the winner of yesterday's mystery question. Your first guess was correc. Congratulations, no one else guessed it
I don't know if I've ever seen one of these trucks on the street! We do have the smaller pumps here and like Sandra said, they're called sump pumps. I'm assuming this is the building where you live? It looks almost exactly like the apartments we lived in for the first thirteen years of our marriage!! I also just saw your Friday post below, don't know how I had missed that yesterday, but It's amazing! You can see that it's water and dirty snow if you know that it is. But if you don't know what you're looking at, it's great! You've taken something dirty and ugly and made it into a work of art. Kind of looks like a rennasaince painting on granite!

For this blog, I have chosen a template that allows me to show pictures as big as possible . Some of the things you usually find in the sidebar, you will find here at the bottom of the page instead - Blog Archive, Followers etc.
My camera is a Nikon Coolpix 4600. For basic editing of most photos and collages I use Picasa 3. Sometimes I also experiment with some more "artistic" effects in Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro.

Thanks Sandra and Ginny for giving me a name for the machine. This is not the building where I live but not very far from.
