After Work Comes Play

To finish off the Laundry Day, there was music and dancing.

The strange instruments are called nyckelharpa  (pl: nyckelharpor)
(key harp, or key fiddle). If you like, you can listen to it here.

They all still look so exhausted! And now the dancing will sweat up their clothes and make even more laundry, yikes! I'm loving those instruments, and when Phil gets home I'm showing him and we will listen together. What IS that big yellow thing? It looks like a childrens slide on it's side. Is it a sculpture?

Ginny, yes, the big yellow thing is a sculpture. Its name is Declination, but it's been given a few nicknames as well. See this post at my other blog from last summer.

I am glad you showed the band and the dancers, i saw a little peek a boo of the dancers in one of your other photos of the laundry and thought how cool to wash clothes and be entertained at the same time

WOW....these are my most favorite pictures you have posted on Sweden's culture. I would love to have seen this and listened in person. I listened to the instruments and it was beautiful. I have never seen these before. Here in the mountain cultures...they often play a Dulcimer..stringed instrument without the bow. These remind me of a combination of a Dulcimer and a fiddle...very interesting. Great Work Dawn Treader!

Sandra and Dan, I can imagine both of you snapping away like mad at an event like this, and being eager to learn all the details as well...!

Dan, I seem to remember you have had pictures of a dulcimer on your blog? (or perhaps it was some other string instrument?)

For this blog, I have chosen a template that allows me to show pictures as big as possible . Some of the things you usually find in the sidebar, you will find here at the bottom of the page instead - Blog Archive, Followers etc.

My camera is a Nikon Coolpix 4600.
For basic editing of most photos and collages I use Picasa 3.
Sometimes I also experiment with some more "artistic" effects in Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro.
