(Jacob) had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven… (Genesis 28:17)
No, I’m afraid this one doesn’t go all that far. It is quite high though. It is a footbridge over a railway:
(Just to prove I actually went up…)

I think, the first shot is grand. Pity it's not painted red!
awesome photo! in the first view it looks noting like what it really is in the 2nd view. great shot
I am suffering from blog clog and no inspiration for bloggin, I am not ignoring you. if I am not here every day I will be back.
Jacob's Ladder! Perfect for this Stariway To Heaven post! I don't think I'd have gonbe up, afraid of heights and all that, but it makes a great post with you going up. But here's my question. It looks like it goes to nowhere?? Fascinating.
Ginny - it does go down on the other side! LOL That was really the only reason for me to go up - it is a shortcut to where I wanted to go. I don't like heights either... If this had been one of those "see-through" stairs, I would not go up! But because it is solid, from the dizzyness aspect I'm okay with it. This was the first time since autumn that I climbed it though... and twice, since I also had to go back... My legs were quite shaky afterwards!
As usual, this photo fascinated me. We have a TON of those walkways in my neck of the woods, but they are all metal. I'd never even considered that some might be made of wood.
Very cool. And more authentic, somehow...
A fun set of pictures (and commentary).
