High Over My Head – The Birch Trees And The Sky

DSCN9970-1

November afternoon sky in town (view from my balcony)

Left: Birch tree “block of apartments” for town birds! (picture taken about one month ago)

Right: Three weeks ago, the birches in a town cemetery still in their golden autumn glory.

Below: Last Sunday: Defoliated birch forest out in the countryside; and “country cottage” bird house.

Batik art by my mother’s father back in 1973.

Going out to my parents’ old house, I got off the bus a couple of stops early,
and took a roundabout walk through the woods to get there.
Just having viewed the birch trees through my camera lens outside,
as I entered the empty house I was struck by a very similar view
hanging there on the wall to greet me.

I’m entering this post for Friday My Town Shoot Out (‘Over Your Head’) and Skywatch Friday.

I'm in AWE of your photography and the Up Views you showed today. They are all amazing and the Batik is a treasure. Thanks for sharing your AWEsome talent with the Friday Shooters today!

The bird townhouse apartments are really cool. But my favorite is the photo next to it. Those trees are beautiful.

I'm loving all of this! For one thing, I adore birch trees! And the birch path in the cemetary is so pretty! And the tree with all the bird apartments, how cool! But the Batik, that is STUNNING!!! I had to read what it is and how it's done! Why have I never seen any anywhere nor heard about it? Will you inherit this? It's one of the prettiest pieces I've ever seen!! I have clicked on it and saved it in my picture file, I would love to see it in real life.

How wonderful to have you join us, that will make an extra delight for me each Friday! I just love your tree shots, especially the first one, there is a haunting sadness to it somehow. I'm not terribly creative but I am imaginative! :)

Wow, if this is what Sweden looks like I really what to go. The Birch tree “block of apartments” is a great find, what lucky birds. Your town cemetery is awesome. My favorite part of you your post today is the story and picture you showed us in your parent’s home. It was strikingly similar.

Wow, those are some amazing pictures! I love your pictures of the birch trees, and that 'country, cottage' birdhouse would be such a cute sight to see overhead.
