Rush Hour In The Cemetery

This weekend is our Halloween / All Saints Day.
A holiday which in Sweden is primarily “celebrated” by visiting family graves and lighting candles.

This is different cemetery from the one in yesterday’s post and much bigger. My visit there this “Halloween” Friday was before noon and I have to say I was a little taken aback as I entered the cemetery (on foot) and saw all the cars. I know it tends to get crowded towards dusk on these occasions, but I had not expected traffic jam at 11 am! In that first picture, none of the cars was getting anywhere, and someone even started honking their car horn! (That really helps in that kind of situation, doesn’t it? And so lifts everyone’s spirit on a day like this…)

While the traffic was lively, the lake was very still!

Your title is just a scream!! A real oxymoron. Rush hour in a place of rest, far out! That by itself is worth the price of admission on your post today! Gosh, is this an average cemetary? It looks nothing like ours!! The headstones and decorations are all so different, I think I like it better. Those pictures of the lake and reflections are wonderful! Good grief! You have actually caught reflections of grief!

Thanks for your comments.
Ginny, I would not call this cemetery "average". It was founded in the 1940s. It is huge and it is designed to fit in with the natural landscape. There are three cemetery chapels, and also different kinds of memorial places. I have never been to another cemetery of this kind and size. All other graveyards I've ever visited are older. I'm not sure how many others of this kind there may be. On the website it says it is considered to be one of the most beautifully situated in the country.

incredible headstones, never seen any shaped like that. this is one of the most beautiful cemetary's i have ever seen. i am with ginny about your title. made me smile and i can't beleive somoene was blowing the horn. if they were in a hurry why were they there? these are really really good shots and especailly the reflections in the pond.

Great title/hook. I like the still water on the lake. A zoom shot of the woman would be neat... she looks like she's setting up a picnic table! Lovely pics.
