It’s been a while since I last had a really big birthday party, so I thought… No, just kidding! But I did have strawberry cake for lunch today, and so did a lot of other people. The “birthday child” though was our Town. It celebrated its 389th birthday. What? Never heard of celebrating a 389th birthday before? Well, now you have. You might prefer to call it anniversary rather than birthday, but still – how many 389th anything have you been to??
Today was the hottest day of summer so far. And usually I would not have said that my favourite place to be at noon on a hot summer day is in a crowd of people in the town square. Since I became a blogger, though, I find myself doing many strange things!
And, in case you wonder – that really was a delicious cake!

lovely and yummy cake, i could have stood being in this crowd just for the cake. i think it is a great idea to celebrate being around that long. our country is not even that old. are those strawberries locally grown or do theyhave to ship them in, in other words can you brow the berries in Sweden? we have strawberrie farms here and they have annual strawberry festivals, since there are usually about 50,000 plus people at these i stay far away. now if i could walk to one like you can i would be there. here nothing is walking distance, car for anything I want to do. keep walking and snapping and blogging, we love it and wait to see what is NEXT
Not sure if the the strawberries on these cakes were all Swedish; but we do grow strawberries here in the summer. More strawberries at my other blog The Island of the Voices also today. ;)
That cake looks amazing, lots of whipped cream, too? But it doesn't look big enough to have fed all those people! Were there several cakes? What a great idea, a city birthday party! Do they have them every year? I find myself doing things that I never would have, just because of blogging! And I've actually gotten a bit too close to danger with thecamera tempting me.
In the upper right-hand corner picture you can see that there are more cakes.
What a great idea of the city to celebrate its 389th birthday:) This like this I miss on this side of the ocean!
That cake right in the middle really makes this collage pop!
