This is lovely, and such prolific blooms! I don't remember ever seeing one, so I had to look it up. I think it said another name is Mountain Ash. They seem to be mainly in England and Europe.
Yes, tricky name question here, because there are many varieties in this family of trees (Lat. sorbus, Sw. oxel). In Britian the name Mountain Ash seems to be used only for Rowan (Sw. rönn); which has very different leaves compared to the one in my picture. But there are also sub-varieties of the Whitebeam (oxel) looking very much alike, which I cannot really tell apart.
Firstly I should say that I have just written a mental note to myself not to leave it so long before visiting this blog again. I've just caught up with it again. It's such an interesting blog and some of the photos are stunning as well as being a window into your town and what is going on.
Secondly a Mountain Ash here in the UK is a Rowan Tree. I've not heard the name used for a Whitebeam. I actually have in the garden a Rowan/Mountain Ash which I planted.
i agree with GB, your blog is full of stunning photos and very, very interesting. I love that first shot, i want to hold those flowers, they are so lacy and just plain PRETTY

For this blog, I have chosen a template that allows me to show pictures as big as possible . Some of the things you usually find in the sidebar, you will find here at the bottom of the page instead - Blog Archive, Followers etc.
My camera is a Nikon Coolpix 4600. For basic editing of most photos and collages I use Picasa 3. Sometimes I also experiment with some more "artistic" effects in Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro.
