Another Time VIII by Antony Gormley
“Almost all of Gormley’s work takes the human body as its subject, with his own body used in many works as the basis for metal casts.” (Wikipedia)
Similar statues by the same artist have been exhibited in London, and recently in New York.

now i am wondering why it is on the roof and not the ground, at least the vandals are not likely to hurt it way up there. i like the little cafe on the corner so you can eat outside. I love eating outside like that. nice shot of the building and the cafe
Sandra - according to Wikipedia,
Gormley (the artist) said of the similar sculptures in New York that
"Within the condensed environment of Manhattan's topography, the level of tension between the palpable, the perceivable and the imaginable is heightened because of the density and scale of the buildings" and that in this context, the project should "activate the skyline in order to encourage people to look around. In this process of looking and finding, or looking and seeking, one perhaps re-assess one's own position in the world and becomes aware of one's status of embedment."
Now in N.Y. there were 31 of them and we have only 1, but I guess the idea is still the same.
We have lots of outdoor cafés in the summer months.
Yipes! Someone call the rescue squad befor he jumps!! So the purpose of this is to encourage us to be aware and look up? Can't argue with that, and this would be a good way to do it!
